Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening trophy on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

Yet, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to seize a shock lead. Initially, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial leveler in the final seconds to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
